Siege of Toulon

napoleonin1792.jpg

The Siege of Toulon was Napoleon’s first major battle showing his military brilliance. The city was overrun with Spanish and British forces who were aiding the French Royalists. Napoleon was appointed Captain of Artillery and ordered the cannons positioned in a way that forced the British to retreat. With such an astonishing victory at such a young age, Napoleon advanced quickly throughout the military as well as society.
